RISE UP AND UNITE AGAINST THE G20 SUMMIT 2022

Statement of ILPS Chairperson Len Cooper

I bring you warm greetings and militant solidarity in your campaign against imperialism and its G20 organisation and network.

The latest G20 nations meeting, takes place in Bali Indonesia on the 15th and 16th of November 2022. The Indonesian Government is the current Chair of the G20, and it is demonstrating the deep-seated fear and paranoia by the G20, about the people of the world, in its farcical preparations for the summit, by deploying thousands of security personnel, military personnel, police, 12 warships, fighter jets, helicopter gunships and other aircraft, to supposedly “protect” the summit.

This is more about trying to intimidate any opposition and criticism rather than so called “protection” and it will fail dismally.

The ILPS supports your far sighted and very important efforts to further expose the imperialist nature of the G20 nation organisation, and your call for it to be junked.

As we know, and have experienced, the G20 organisation is designed to cover up the imperialist programme and objectives of the G7 nations, which is where the most powerful imperialist nations reside.

Let us look at the nature of the world under imperialism, under the rich and most powerful capitalist nations.
1. The ongoing and deepening crisis of the global capitalist system is a constant threat to the living standards and lives of the working class, peasants, farmers and other toilers and a constant threat to their democratic and human rights.
2. The environment of the globe is being destroyed in the constant frantic drive across the globe for the maximum profit, through the exploitation of the resources, land and cheep labour in the colonial, semi colonial countries and other capitalist countries.
3. Imperialism is continually expanding its spheres of influence and control, often by military aggression and military domination, and is responsible for millions being killed and injured in ongoing wars and historically, in world wars.

So, we see that the stock in trade of imperialism is attacks on living standards, destruction of the environment, and aggressive war in its pursuit of the maximum profit. The G20 countries are central to this evil impact on the worlds people.

The G20 process is a means by imperialism to step up its war preparations against Russia and China, by mobilising the G20 countries to collaborate and cooperate with their aggression and expansion. It is the means, along with such agencies as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organisation etc, that enable United States Capital to try to maintain its status as the No1 imperialist power in the world.

The ILPS stands solidly with you in your opposition to the G20 and imperialism. The ILPS has become the most prominent mass based anti- imperialist, and pro- democracy organisation in the world, but much more needs to be done.

You are setting a fine example of the work that needs to be done. I wish you all the best with your efforts against the G20 and imperialism. We stand shoulder to shoulder with you in your campaign.

Long live the peoples struggles against imperialism!
Long live international solidarity!
Junk the G20 and other imperialist agencies!
