FIGHTING FOR PEACE: STRENGTHENING PEOPLE’S RESISTANCE TO MILITARISM AND WAR
To strengthen people’s solidarity in reclaiming peace and democracy, and in opposing militarism and war, the International League of People’s Struggle – Asia Pacific, Resist US- led War Movement, and the Asia Pacific Resource Network (APRN) held a forum on “Fighting for Peace: Strengthening People’s Resistance to Militarism and War” on June 25, 2019 at the sidelines of the 6th ILPS Assembly.
Discussions provided participants inputs on trends of militarism in a multipolar international order and the people’s resistance particularly on US-sponsored authoritarian Duterte regime, on the US Bases in Okinawa, Japan, campaign against Boeing and the imperialist cyber warfare. Speakers include Victor Garces from the Institute for Political Economy, Yoshio Nakamura of the Asia Wide Coalition – Japan, Renato Reyes of Bayan (New Patriotic Alliance) Philippines, representatives from the US campaign against Boeing and the Computer Professional’s Union from the Philippines, among others.
