PROVISIONAL COMMITTE OF THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF PEOPLES’ STRUGGLE OF LATIN AMERICA
DECEMBER 21, 2020
We express our indignation for the persecution against the Amnesty and Fundamental Rights Movement, members of Ilps, lawyers, teachers, workers, artists, students, street people, and social fighters imprisoned in Peru. In a gigantic police raid in Peru, close to a hundred of our dear comrades falsely accused of the crime of terrorism have been arrested, including 11 lawyers, like M Alfredo Crespo, and union leaders, in the midst of the state of emergency due to the pandemic that, due to the main responsibility of the State, has taken more than 80 thousand lives of the people. The Political Constitution of Peru in Chapter 1: Fundamental Rights of the Person, Article 3 guarantees: “Freedom of conscience and religion, individually or in association. There is no persecution for ideas or beliefs. There is no crime of opinion. » They have not committed any crime, they have exercised their fundamental rights such as freedom of expression, opinion, meeting and organization that the Constitution law, as well as the International Agreements and Conventions assist them with.
We express our rejection and categorical repudiation of this illegal, arbitrary and abusive operation led by the Political Police of Peru (DIRCOTE) carried out in the early morning hours of the 2nd December, breaking into 94 houses, of which they have broken doors and windows, lifting minors who were staying overnight with their fathers, beating up mothers for demanding the order of the Court for such an outrage, detaining a nursing mother with her baby, harassing her by taking the child to the INABIF, breaking the health of the elderly, arresting lawyers to deny any kind of legal defense and physical and psychological abuse of all detainees and their families.
Movadef, Fudep and other persecuted organizations are popular organizations that fight for the rights of the people, such as the right to electoral participation, demand a new Constitution with a Constituent Assembly, reject capitalism and fight for socialism. None of that is a crime in Peru or elsewhere. They flagrantly violate the presumption of innocence and the right to defense. This sinister anti-popular raid clearly shows the infamous plans of imperialism and native reaction, its fierce defense of capitalism, its hatred and vengeance against the most advanced organizations of the people. It is also right-wing revenge against the popular upsurge that unmasked the general crisis and decomposition of the Peruvian State, fighting capitalism.
With profound indignation we reject these devious and provocative attacks on the people, which they use to divert attention and to seek to discredit the social fighters to defend the system of capitalist exploitation and oppression. We demand the freedom of all the detainees, respect for the fundamental rights of opinion, organization and political participation, and condemnation of the torture to which they are subjected. We call for immediate international solidarity from the popular organizations of the world, condemning the vile outrage against the Peruvian people and the freedom of the detainees, outstanding sons and daughters of the people; comrades of Ilps, who are fighting for a new Peru in a new world.
FREE TO THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE FIGHTING AGAINST CAPITALIST OPPRESSION! WORLD SOLIDARITY AGAINST REPRESSION IN PERU! DOWN WITH REPRESSION, HATRED AND REVENGE AGAINST THE PEOPLE BY THE PERUVIAN STATE! INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY WITH LAWYERS, TEACHERS, ARTISTS, STUDENTS, WORKERS, PEOPLE, SOCIAL FIGHTERS IMPRISONED IN PERU! FIGHTING FOR A NEW CONSTITUTION AND SOCIALISM IS NOT A CRIME!
