From the Interim Latin American and Caribbean Committee of the ILPS, we express our rejection of the arrest by the Argentine Federal Police on November 7 of Facundo Molares, an Argentine popular activist and communicator former member of the demobilized FARC.
The arrest responds to the request made by Interpol and intends to extradite him – for his alleged participation in a kidnapping – to Colombia. Facundo Molares’s life is at risk. The Colombian state does not guarantee a fair trial or the personal integrity of the comrade. This is demonstrated by the extreme human rights violations that that state perpetrates against its own people.
To this must be added the tremendous health consequences that Facundo suffers as a result of the inhumane treatment during his detention under the de facto period of Jeanine Añez in Bolivia, in a cause invented by the coup. We demand that the Argentine government, through its Foreign Ministry, deny the extradition request of Facundo Molares, making him responsible in addition to the delicate integrity of the comrade. We call for joint mobilization and maximum popular unity to stop this injustice that they intend to perpetrate.
