The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) is launching the Our Fights, Our Future: A Global Solidarity Campaign.

This will be a series of activities that focus on specific countries or territories, shedding light on their situations and struggles. The campaign aims to provide a platform for addressing issues, ongoing local movements, and the people’s demands, all while garnering support for these causes and fostering solidarity.

This September, the ILPS dedicates a global solidarity campaign for the Philippines. Intensifying human rights violations are happening in the country every day – the killings of innocent civilians by the police, the attacks on human rights defenders, the use of “terror laws” and other trumped-up charges to stifle dissent, the rising number of political prisoners, the bloated confidential and intelligence funds of the executive, and continuing impunity.

As it was during the time of Martial Law, state terror is being used to prevent the people from speaking out against the worsening economic crisis and from demanding change. The so-called “Anti-Terror Law” today is what Martial Law was during Marcos Sr.’s dictatorship.

Under Marcos Jr.’s leadership, the Philippines has increasingly aligned itself with the United States, becoming embroiled in US-led wars in the region.

With this situation, the Filipino people are calling for international solidarity in their struggle to hold US-Marcos regime accountable. A series of activities on the Philippine situation – its social context and the local movements – is being organized by the ILPS to better present the situation to the international community and provide a platform for solidarity.

Here is the calendar of online and offline solidarity activities with specific details and conducts. The Global Solidarity Campaign for the Philippines will peak and culminate in a Global Day of Action on September 21, 2023, commemorating the 51st anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law by Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.
