On Oct 29 in Vancouver, the March for Return and Liberation for Palestine was organized by an alliance of local anti-imperialist organizations including Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network Vancouver , Canada Palestine Association , BAYAN Canada and the Vancouver Workers’ Assembly. The march was organized as part of a global action called by Masar Badil -La Ruta Palestina Alternativa the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement. There was a simultaneous action in Brussels where thousands of people marched towards the European Parliament to confront the EU’s responsibility for Zionist war crime in Palestine.
ILPS in Canada had an opportunity to deliver a solidarity statement at the march. In our statement, we united with the demands of our Palestinian comrades for the right of return for refugees and the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners. We also denounced the use of terrorist labelling to discredit the ongoing resistance movements in Palestine, Canada’s complicity in supporting the Zionist regime, and Israel’s arms sales to repressive regimes around the world, including the Philippines and Myammar. The liberation of Palestine is linked with the liberation of all peoples of the world oppressed by imperialism, and therefore, our international solidarity with the Palestinian people is essential.
Other organizations, such as BDS Vancouver – Coast Salish Territories also had opportunity to highlight their campaigns at the march, including the ongoing “Boycott Israeli Wines” campaign.
Long live international solidarity!
