ENOUGH WITH HUNGER AND AUSTERITY

Day of Struggle Throughout the Country*

The organizations of the Unidad Piquetera are going out from North to South because hunger and wage misery can no longer be abated. From genuine work, the opening and increase in social programs, comprehensive assistance to soup kitchens, and for the right to organize freely. 

The pact with the IMF means deepening the impoverishment and chronic unemployment that have been installed in our country government after government. In the shanty towns, we suffer from inflation and tariff hikes that have a full impact on living conditions, leaving thousands of families without access to the basics, such as a plate of food. Not to mention the “back to school” without budget allocations for public education and health.

Meanwhile, social programs are closed and their amounts are frozen at $16,000. This is below the indigence level. 

Six months after the presentation of the project that we presented to the Ministry, on the generation of genuine work based on public works, the national situation is worsening. The government only collects dollars for the payment of the debt, not only on the basis of falling wages, but also through environmental depredation and pollution. They plunder the country and its natural resources.

They are deepening the adjustment, hitting the most vulnerable sectors, adjusting social spending, increasing the price of services, and subjecting us to quarterly monitoring by the IMF. We reject this foreign intervention that will generate a permanent problem of instability, which the big economic octopuses will take advantage of to hit our rights even harder. 

We will mobilize massively this Tuesday the 15th, as we did on the 8th in Cordoba; where shock groups acted to instill fear and try to stop these struggles.

The government, far from responding to the popular needs, is attacking the unemployed with anti-democratic maneuvers, which do not allow the precarious workers of the Potenciar Trabajo program to choose in which management unit to organize, leaving thousands of comrades in the clutches of the municipalities’ punteros. In this way they reinforce repression for social control.

The unemployed working class all over the country goes out to the streets and we raise:
