On August 24 of this year, in the City of Oaxaca-Mexico, Comrade Tomás Martínez Pinacho was assassinated after his participation in a mobilization of thousands of workers, poor peasants and members of various Indigenous Peoples with demands for justice , health, bread and work.

Tomás Martínez Pinacho, at the time of his murder, was a member of the Central Committee of the Popular Revolutionary Front (FPR), a member organization and one of the founders of the ILPS-Mexico chapter. In addition, he has been a defender of natural resources fighting against mega-mining. He fought for the rights of native peoples, and for the interests of the popular masses.

It is clear that the crime of Martínez Pinacho was a crime committed by the Mexican State related to his struggle as a revolutionary and defender of the rights of the masses.

From the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, we demand from the Mexican State the immediate clarification of this crime, and the punishment of those responsible for this. Since two months after his murder, there is no progress in the investigations.

We call upon the ILPS member organizations to maintain solidarity with the FPR, demanding justice for Comrade Tomás José Martínez Pinacho.
