The International League of Peoples’ Struggles (ILPS) Commission 1 On the Cause of National and Social Liberation against Imperialism and Reaction Statement on the Israeli Annexation of Palestinian Lands
ILPS Commission 1 strongly supports the July 1 call against Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank. As a league of anti-imperialist and democratic peoples’ organizations in all continents, since its founding in 2001, ILPS has stood side by side with the just aspiration and struggle of the Palestinian people for national liberation and self-determination. We also staunchly oppose Zionism and the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands with the support of U.S. imperialism.
We strongly believe that Israel’s imposition of an apartheid regime through repressive systems such as prisons and detention centers, the systematic targeting and destruction of Palestinian society, lives, and livelihood with impunity are blatant violations of international law and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
This most recent iteration of the U.S. Imperialist “deal of the century,” which Trump misrepresents as a “peace plan” is supposed to fulfill a central objective of further marginalizing the Palestinian people through annexing almost all of the West Bank territory in violation of UN charters and International law. Annexation is an imperialist program that will not yield peace for the people in the region. In fact, the annexation is nothing more than the U.S.-backed far-right national chauvinist vision of Netanyahu for “economic peace,” which is code for an accelerated plundering of Palestine’s resources, lands and people.
We enjoin all organizations under ILPS Commission 1 to forge stronger solidarity with the struggling people of Palestine, peoples of the Arab region and all the forces for national liberation around the world by marking July 1, 2020 as the day we reaffirm ever so forcefully the Palestinian peoples’ struggle to fight back against Zionist occupation and U.S. imperialism and stand with Palestians in taking back their rightful homeland. ###
