Nairobi The Kenyan chapter of the International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS Kenya) held a protest action yesterday to condemn US imperialism’s continuous war efforts against Iran and the Middle East.
On behalf of the toiling masses of Kenya, we are one with all the peace-loving people of the world in strongly opposing all instances and all activities that are geared towards beating war drums of the US against the people of Iran. We also offer our condolences to the people of Iran following the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani.
We say no to US imperialist war of aggression. Down with US imperialism! said ILPS Kenya co-convenor Lewis Maghanga. In his speech during the protest, Mahanga explained that US attacks on Iran are not to secure peace and stability but rather to subjugate Iran and impose US imperialist domination over the region.
He further said that tensions in the Middle East will continue to escalate with the relentless efforts of the US in fulfilling its greedy ambition of controlling Irans rich oil and people resources through the imposition of economic sanctions and continuous military actions.
Peoples resistance against imperialist economic plunder and oppression; peoples struggles for freedom and to uphold national sovereignty over imperialist intervention are not terrorism. Imperialism is terrorism! and US imperialism is the worlds number 1 terrorist, Maghanga said.
“We support any efforts towards ending terrorism in the Middle East and ensuring that the region has sustainable peace and development”, he added.
ILPS Kenya also expressed its solidarity with the Iraqi people in their demand to remove US troops and war machines from Iraq. The group also quipped that the continuing US military presence in Iraq, despite the Iraqi parliament’s resolution to kick US troops out of the country, is a blatant disrespect for Iraqs national sovereignty and a clear indication that US will carry on with its war of aggression against Iran and Iraq.
Maghanga shared that US personnel and war equipment use Kenyan military bases for its operations. On January 6, a US military serviceman and two US contractors were killed and two planes, two US helicopters and multiple US military vehicles were destroyed in an attack by al-Shabaab attack on a Kenyan military base.
The Kenyan leader stated that like the Iraqi people, the Kenyan people should demand for the expulsion of US troops from Kenya and strongly oppose US imperialist’s use of Kenyas resources and facilities for oppression and war.
We urge our fellow Kenyans to join the global movement against imperialism. We vow to strengthen our struggles against imperialism in Kenya and extend solidarity to all the people resisting imperialism. Down with US imperialism! he ended.###
