On the Attempted Assassination of Mr. Booker Ngesa Omole
The ILPS Regional Committee for Africa and West Asia condemns the cowardly act to assassinate Mr. Booker Ngesa Omole, the secretary general of the Communist Party Marxist of Kenya (CPM-K) and one of the leading voices of the opposition to the IMF sponsored Finance Bill of 2024 and the Ruto regime in the country.
On the night of January 10, several armed men equipped with night vision goggles stormed Booker Omole’s residence and tried to kill Mr. Omole. The alert reaction of Mr. Omole’s comrades thwarted the attack.
A few days earlier in Mombasa, authorities arrested Mr. Mwaivu Kaluka, the national chairperson of the CPM-K and several other protesters during a demonstration against the alarming number of abductions of young activists in Kenya. Ruling class interests are resorting to arrests, intimidation, abductions and even murder to silence the dissenting voices against imperialist policies. These are attacks on the people’s freedom of expression.
We call on the people to close ranks and jealously guard their freedoms. Be vigilant!
Resist all forms of coercion and intimidation.
Forward the Kenyan people’s struggle for national freedom and democracy!
Signed,
ILPS Regional Committee for Africa and West Asia
