Communique of the First National Assembly of ILPS Aotearoa
On 15 to 17 November 2024, the first ILPS Aotearoa assembly was convened in Rotorua, Aotearoa New Zealand. Gathered here were 11 organisations with 35 delegates, representing youth, students, trade unions, migrants, women, and organisers of national liberation struggles across the world–from the Philippines to Palestine. Through the discussions, the ILPS Aotearoa identified the ongoing threat of US imperialism as the main force which stands in the way of peoples’ liberation globally. The primary contradiction of the present conjuncture is between US imperialism and the peoples of the world.
The three-day assembly discussed imperialism and its main characteristics, the role of peoples’ organisations, climate imperialism, food sovereignty, and the Palestine struggle. Throughout the event, delegates connected–sharing kai, stories, and ideas.
The ILPS Aotearoa resolved on the following: first, to build the broadest alliance amongst peoples’ organisations to confront imperialism on every frontier that it operates; and second, to stand together against the ongoing attacks on tino rangatiranga in Aotearoa and the imperialist genocide in Palestine.
To these ends, the ILPS Aotearoa shall establish collective channels for communication among its members, and aid in the organisational and political development of peoples’ organisations in Aotearoa.
The ILPS Aotearoa is united in holding the ruling elites accountable, defeating imperialism, and building a socialist future.
Dare to struggle, dare to win!
Signed,
Delegates of ILPS Aotearoa
Mabuhay ILPS Aotearoa! Power to the people for a socialist future!
